Dave and I have shared preliminary discussion of the ins and outs of this seemingly simple process. The best thing to do is do a google search on "making torrents", "Torrent Files" etcetera.

Basically you need to seek permission to announce a torrent once made on someones tracker and upload it to that tracker. Alternatively if you create your own tracker (I think similar to running a server generally speaking). That gets more complicated though.

Whatever you find please share with me and I know Dave would appreciate it also.

Heres one to look at.

I'll download it too and we'll try to stuff around with it simultaneously.

I think making the BT will be ok but the tracker bit is an unknowns to me.

Torrents today, Silicon Valley tommorrow!!!

Very odd. What BT software do you use?

Eitherway should not slow your computer down any. When downloading a BT my PC useage never climbs above 4%.

Naturally. Downloading is using your bandwidth thus it throttles you other downloading like web browsing for example.

If you use a Bit-Torrent GUI client like Azures (sp?) then you can limit the bandwidth usage of your Torrents downloads, plus it tells you at what speed your uploading and downloading.

but the torrent only downloads at 1-2 KiB/s and even at this speed, using browsers takes ages!

That is odd....

Even when downloading a BT at only 30Kb/s theoretically you still have about 120Kb/s to spare, plenty to web browse without any noticible decrease in performance. Try another BT client. Go to http://www.suprnova.com and look under the section about BTs try the "experimental version" its the best I find. See if it makes a diff.

Otherwise surf for porn prior to starting BT DLs Thumbs Up

Fez,
Uploading also slows your web browsing. So you may only be downloading at 2-3kb/s you could be uploading at full speed. I think yuor upload speed is 64 kb/s ??? thats about 6 KB/s. Easily attainable if yuo have anything some who's on a faster speed then that wants.
